HISTORY
This is the first annual Wild at Heart Marathon. The marathon is dedicated to educating women about taking care of their hearts and avoiding the number one killer of women in America, heart failure. It will also allow participants to raise money for both our local and national heart charities by seeking sponsors who pledge for each of their marathon miles. 100% of the pledge dollars will go to the three charities.

RACE DIRECTOR

The event was founded by Ariel Penn, who was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation in her 20’s and diastolic dysfunction in late 2006. Ariel found that information about women’s heart risks is less readily available and wanted to do something to change this by raising funds for a variety of nonprofits committed to reversing this trend.
Bringing over 20 years special events experience to the track, Ariel is the Filming and Special Events Manager for the City of Pasadena. Ariel and her team expedite over 85 major events a year in Pasadena including the Doo Dah Parade, Lunar New Year Festival and post-parade operations for the Tournament of Roses. In addition, Ariel is an avid walker and loves participating in half marathons.
